  2. PUT 4:3 for the source then under the advanced tab select full screen keep aspect ratio... use the preview button to see if it is what you want

  3. im not quite sure i follow what yur saying.

there seems to be a few places that could influence widescreen or fullscreen.

the first looks like it would be expert setting for source and one of the subfields is aspect ratio, what should that be in order to get widescreen?

then there are the mpeg setting is there something in there that i need to change in order to keep the video file widescreen?

    thanks alot

  4. I would try 16:9 display under the advanced tab and 4:3 display under the video tab. Don't forget to use Full Screen(keep aspect ratio). These are the settings I use when I rip widescreen DVD's. Hope this can help you.

Digital movies from my video camera are 720x480.I save them as 720x480 dv avi.To author them for my widescreen tv i have both video and advanced tab set to 16:9,and they work out fine.Even old vcr tapes,i do the same and they have the right aspect ratio for my tv.

This is incorrect. Source aspect ratio is always 1:1(VGA) for avi. Video arrange method should be one of the *Full screen(keep aspect ratio)* options . This will show all the movie, and maintain aspect ratio.

Under Video settings, aspect ratio is normally locked to 4:3. You can unlock this and use 16:9, although i find the standard setting fine on my widescreen TV. I just use the zoom function on the TV to suit my taste, and they also play fine on a standard TV.
