Hey, buddies.

I want to create a "double feature" disc for a friend. He's a Jim Carrey fan, so I'm going to put two of his faves, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and Dumb and Dumber, on one DVD-R.

I usually use this guide when I re-encode:

What type of settings should I use for this project? I'm thinking that the new MPEG-2 files should be about 1.5 or 1.6 gigs apiece, right? Since the AC3 tracks can take up to 500 MB. I might have a little more space to spare (Ace has a Dolby Surround track instead of a 5.1, like Dumb & Dumber), but that should be around the size I need for the MPEG-2 files.

After I get the files, I can use SpruceUp or Maestro to author, so that's no big deal.

The thing I need help with is what TMPGEnc settings to use to encode each movie so that they fit on one disc.

Also, I remember reading something about people having problems with Warner Bros. discs because of the interlaced logo screen. You're supposed to remove it before you encode, right?

One last question (know I'm being a pain in the ass, but I know someone can help me out) :

Both of the DVDs are older titles and will be ripped Full Screen. I have no idea whether they are interlaced or progressive. Should I still use the Progressive, 23.97 fps settings, as the guides suggest?

That's it for now.

Thanks in advance, friends!
