windows xp will ship with the new windows media player 8. though much is unknown, it is know that it will feature a mpeg 2 decoder built into the os.
you will be able to play back mpeg 2 files with the player without any third party programs

update. the mp3 and dvd will be a 30 dollar add on.
xp will have no mp3 out of box support -
Watch Movie on Computer screen is just no fun.
We will still watch it on the big screen.
The decorder most likely will make making SVCD much easier.
