I am doing what I always do (TmpGenc + Maestro) to backup Murder by Numbers. Once Maestro compiles the image and I play it off the Hard Drive the Audio is out of sync. I have been foloowing Blackout's guide... to a "T", I have used Ac3 corrector and even Maestro's built in sync corrector, but neither seems to help. Has anybody done this movie, or would anybody have a theory?

i am doing the same thing, trying to back up my new murder by numbers dvd the picture comes out great but the audio is like 6-7 seconds off.
is that what you're experiencing, if so, it could be that particular movie.

I stripped out the main movie with IFOEDIT, transcoded with CCE, and authored with Maestro and it worked fine.

YES! That WAS the exact problem. If you watch the movie first (which I never do) you'll see that it plays the initial WB opening - then it goes to the main menu, after that it starts with two movie opening credits. What I did was go into DVD Decryptor and just rip the movie in the IFO mode and start the RIP at the second set of opening credits. After that I had to do AC3 corrector, and popped it into DVD Maestro. Worked great.... also be sure to look at it with Bitrate viewer it is a Bottom Field First movie. Hope that helps.

ive never used isoedit or cce so once i dl the programs is there a tutorial that corresponds with these programs...i do have maestro.

DCS 200, can you tell me what you mean by the second set of credits...when I open dvd decryptor under ifo mode I get "pgc1 (2:00:03)" and so on with pgcxxx and then under pgc1 there ae chapters...
where can I find the second set of credits..
thanks -
IFOEDIT tutorial's are available at Derrow's [rul=http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/index.htm]site[/url]. I also made a stripping tutorial in this thread (around the 4th post).
For CCE, see the tutorial at Doom9. Make sure that you have the latest versions of avisynth.dll and mpeg2dec.dll (check the avisynth forum at http://www.doom9.org). Personally, I wait until I am authoring with Maestro to load in the chapter info. There is also some debate about the "Linear quantizer scale" setting. Some say it it better in most cases not to use it. Good luck. -
Man, I forget I did that one two weeks ago... I believe there was one extra SHORT (I'm not sure what you call them!?!) SUB-Menus - which I believe was the "Opening" screen right before the Main Menu displayed... but all I ripped was the PGC1 (2:00:03) and that allowed me to start the video and audio at the same time. Because, if I didn't do that the audio ended up being longer than the video - by a lot! This was the first time I've ran across a movie that threw me such a big curve. Man where were you guys two weeks ago when I needed help!
DCS 200 -
Ok cool, I'm ripping murder by numbers now, All i did was uncheck all the pgc's except the PGC 1 which is the movie i presume (2:00:03) so i'll let you guys know if it works. thanks for the info.

ok i have an add on question now, after i ripped the dvd with just the pgc 1 file which is the movie... do i still need to dump it in to dvd2avi -> Tmpegnc -> then dvd meastro etc... then burn, or can i just rip the movie and then put it in dvd maestro to do the rest (besides burn it) because going through Tmpegnc takes like 3 hrs. or longer so just trying to avoid extra steps if possible.
-
You only need to use DVD2AVI+TMPGEnc if you need to transcode (shrink) the movie. If the ripped movie files are <4.3GB, then you don't need to transcode it.
-
(shynomi) Yes... that is exactly what I did and it worked great.... remember it's not a "Top Field First Movie"...

You were right it worked perfectly...thanks for all the help guys i've only been burning dvd's for a week now and i have learned a hell of a lot of info. thanks again.

I think I'm having a similar problem while trying to convert Jay+Silent Bob and Swordfish.
I've read all the guides out there, and have done a bunch of succesful conversions from DVD-9 to DVD+R, but both of these movies have given me a problem with audio syncing. I have and use AC-3 Delay corrector, which has no effect on this problem. After ripping (with either SmartRipper or DVD decryptor), I use DVD2AVI. During my intial preview of the VOBs (Enemy Within, there is no short VOB file on either of these.) , I notice there is a difference in the Coded # frames, and the Playback #. Through changing some video options, I end up with either the Coded # being larger or the Playback # being larger (this is while previewing).
Now, I am new to all this, but the end result is that if these numbers arent synced, then I ALWAYS get audio that is not synced. Can I manually adjust the AC-3 file in DVD maestro to be offeset? Can I just figure out the actual delay in the audio, and move the AC-3 file on the timeline to compensate for this?
Any help would be great!!
