  1. How do I stop PowerDVD_XP to put a file called
"Default.pls" in the folder everytime I play a vob?

  2. in the configuration under general and "dvd auto resume options", tell it to playback always play back the movie from the begginning.. by default it prompts you asking if you want to playback from the begginning or the last place you left off.. and it has there default.pls file so that it knows where you were last time.. turning this feature off should stop it from giving you those files.. but then again, you wont have that option..

Over 700 views and nobody has an answer?

If I drag a file (normally mpeg and mpeg2) to a PowerDVD shortcut it'll play and no .pls is left behind. It only creates it when I right-click it and choose play with.

I'd switch over to WinDVD, but I tried it out and just don't like it as much as PowerDVD, save the pesky little 'default.pls' file showing up everywhere. I fancy myself a savvy pc user, but just can't seem to crack this one.

If anyone can help us out here it would be very much appreciated.

  5. I am using PowerDVD version 4.0 on Windows XP.

I edited powerdvd.exe with a binary editor, and replaced "Default.PLS" with "C:\PDVD.PLS". Now PowerDVD creates and over-writes "C:\PDVD.PLS" instead of "Default.PLS" all the time.

I also tried "D:\PDVD.PLS" while D: is my DVD drive letter. Nothing was created and PowerDVD worked fine too.

    Tips:
    - all are case sensitive
    - The string you can use for replacing "Default.PLS" must have 11 characters. No less, no more. Otherwise PowerDVD may crash.

I would not pay for the programmer who "hard-code" a file name.

  8. thank you for the tip, binary editing worked! PS. It gets annoying having to delete the default playlist every single time you play a video.

An old thread...but does anyone know if PowerDVD 5 does this, too? I'm still using 4, but this would be yet another reason to upgrade for me.

I use to have that problem too.

Nero didn't like that file ... when it was time to burn.

But ... that file is no longer there anymore. I dont know what I did.

    I use PowerDVD 5.
