i also have a 1100W and i have one with the white kodak sticker on the box and the CD/VCD LED light on it and it plays VCDs and SVCDs fine but wont play xVCDs at all cause i think its the 512K version. i heard newer versions of the 1100W will not play VCDs or SVCDs at all.

i have the same machine and it plays both vcd and svcd just fine. i only tested one vcd though, but have tried atleast 30 svcds. what is it doing? or not doing rather! i mean can you get a menu or anything coming up? what do you use to burn?

  4. I don't know if the region free hack has anything to do with fomat compatibility, but I have two apex 1100w 512k that can play VCD, XVCD and SVCD without any problems. I encode using TMPEGenc and burn with Nero. I did not test the units before using the hack, so I don't know if they could play those formats before.

P.S. The units were bought this year 5 months apart and in different cities
