  1. I haven't watched a DivX 5 movie in a long time, so I didn't notice for a while, but now any movie encoded using the DivX 5 codec just freezes on the first frome, the audio continues, but not the video.

I tried installing the DivX antifreeze filter, but it does not help. I tried completely removing all Divx codecs and just reinstalling the DivX 5 Pro codec, but it still freezes.

I also tried uninstalling the Nimo codec pack and reinstalling, but sure enough it gets errors while installing its components and I have to hit ignore several times.

The only player that I can watch these videos with the is the Divx Player 2.0 Alpha that comes with the codec, no others (including WinDVD and PowerDVD) will not work. Unfortunately, even TMPEGEnc freezes on the first frame, so I cannot convert the videos anymore.

I suspect the problem (like Locco has recently brought up) might be related to the way changes in SP1 affect the installation of things such as the antifreeze filter, so if anyone knows how to install this manually, let me know.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!

    Thanks for any responses.

EIDT: First of all, what EXACTLY happens when you put a CD-ROM (or DVD for that matter) in the drive.

  2. I don't know about your specific problem, but I had problems with videos freezing and the audio continuing with divx5 movies, and it froze my whole machine. I got around it by using the divx5 configure program and moving postprocessing quality to min, and I dropped my video card acceleration from max to max-1 just to be safe (it also gave me problems with some video games at max acceleration, like rainbow 6).

Having the editor totally freeze also is very odd though. I have only heard this happening with one other codec, which was the ati vcr2 codec which royally sucks.

  3. Thanks for the response!

I completely forgot about the codec configuration program. All I did was move the quality level to Max, and the movies no longer freeze. Luckily I didn't have to change the video card's acceleration level or anything else.

Good deal. now the movies look better and don't freeze.

    Thanks again.
