  1. I am unable to read an xvid movie file, and I am wondering how I can convert it to an mpg file? According to the nimo codec pac page, the xvid codec comes with a Pro divx version that has spyware, so I don't want to download that. Plus the page mentions a whole bunch of other conflicts. SO if I don't instll the xvid codec, then I am out of luck? I am assuming in order to convert xvid to another format, I must be able to view it?

    Thx

Firstly I would try installing ffdshow, which should be enough to allow you to playXviD. http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ffdshow-20020923.exe

Don't forget to alter the config setting after installing.

  3. If you lucky to have nimo code pack then you can install only xvid code from it.

  4. You have to install Xvid codec first (search on google or yahoo and download it) . After open movie in Virtual Dub and through its frameserver and Tmpg Encoder you can encode it to mpeg.
