    Hello,

I have a couple of questions that I was hoping the Forum would be able to help answer.

    1) I have a Sony DVP-S560 and while playing a DVD the other day it stopped and the picture froze before going away. Then it said No Disc on the player. No matter what DVD I put in the DVD player says No Disc. When I called the service center from my description they knew what the problem is but want $90 to fix it. Has anyone else experienced this and know what the problem is as well as how to fix it?

    2) Next I went out and purchased the Factory Service Manual. It says that you need a special test disc that has single layer and mutilayer capability to run the autocalibration. Both the Sony parts line and the service center do not know where to get this test disc. Does anyone know where I can get one or is there another way to do the autocalibration? Do I even need to do the autocalibration?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

If anyone is interested I was able to solve my problems. It turns out that Sony has a quality problem with the S560 player and there is a fuse that blows under the drive board. You replace or bypass it and it gets rid of the no disc problem.

There was a great write up I found by using google and searching for Sony DVP-S560 "No Disc" if anyone else has this problem.

There is actually a class action lawset in the works for anyone with a 5xx or 3xx player.

    Thanks
