Load what ever you have got into TMPGEnc as normal, and do a few seconds of conversion using a VCD template.

Now load that into Merge&Cut, does it still crash ? Did you selct the right one from the drop down list "MPEG 1 Video CD" ?

  3. Hello

tried what you suggested john, encoded a few secs of a movie to mpeg1 video cd, loaded it into merge and cut and the same thing again blue screen with error message. i am running win98 would this be anything to do with it as i have been told tmpgen is sometimes fussy with 98 and that i should upgrade to 2000. i should also say that i have used tmpgen to encode several movies with no probs, as well as multi/demultiplex. it is just the edit facility that dont work

See if the same thing happens with an earlier version of TMPG. You will find one here:

    no warez links please

You may find going to Win2000 causes more problems than it solves when working with video, although if everything you want to use works with 2000, then this is the way to go. I would suggest first trying an update to 98SE.

98 or 98SE ? I use 98SE, if anything it would be more of a problem on Win 2000

I never asked what version you have, have you tried the new TMPGEnc 2.58 plus ? or a version less than 2.55

The link is not a link to warez. TMPG1.2a is freeware.

    Hi Sammy

Well you should always start with the new version and work your way down

You may find that TMPGEnc is not at fault at all, and something like a codec may be causing the problem, or even DirectX

Have you installed WMP 9 BETA ?, if so unintall it, I still use the orignal V6 less problems with that. (Codec change) ?

TMPGEnc works 100% on my system, so its not a compatibility problem, more of something installed on your machine that's causing the error, especially when you use files that TMPGEnc had made.

I also see you have a Celeron 433, getting on a bit that is have you tried any of the settings in TMPGEnc to switch off MMX etc, I don't think it matter with what your doing though.

You need to know about your system, start by going to the control panel and select Multimedia then the Device TAB and see what codec's you have installed.

    Any SMR ?

Also run C:\Program Files\DirectX\Setup\ DxDiag make sure that is working correct

Maybe it might be better for you to use the source range in your conversions, then you wont need to edit unless you download a Mpeg 1

    OH, and dont download warez
