    i have a movie (lock stock and 2 smoking barrels) in 640*480 pixels, and when i convert it in tmpgenc the image is worse then the original. i convert it with videocd ntsc template, as i have read earlier in the "how to - avi to vcd" instructions.
    what should i do?

    Just try SVCD.... VCD may not look as good as the original....
