  1. hi - i have been downloading tv episodes in *.mpg format and burning them to vcd using adapec /roxio Toast 5.1 under MAC OSX. Every once in a while a downloaded mpg file will not be accepted by Toast - allthough the file properties and format seem to be exactly the same as for the other files that did work with TOAST.

Can anybody give me a hint on where the problem might be ? Should i use a different sofware to burn vcds ?

    many thanks for any help

  2. I gave up using Adaptec/Roxio products because they can only do compliant burns.
Using a combination of the following freebies, you can't go wrong (compliant or not):
    Virtualdub,TMPGE and VCDEASY.

    Try this

Load TMPGEnc, select Mpeg tools > Merge&Cut > Add

Add your Mpeg, and from the drop down combo, select "MPEG 1 Video CD"
Click the edit button and make sure the full range is selected (Previous settings may be there)

Type the output name and location and click start.

This will stream another copy of the mpeg, and fix little problems like bitrate being slightly out

    1150 could be 1150,XXXX etc

Use MissingMPEGTools to author your MPEGs into .IMG tracks and burn them in Toast using CD-ROM XA mode.
