  1. Trying my first rip. I have a .avi file. I have seperated the wav file in virtualdub. I am trying to encode the video in TMPGE and it gives me an error that it does not support the file. I think I need to do something with the codec. I downloaded the divX codec 5.0 pro. All the help sights mention that to get the avi to convert correctly to MPEG I may need to install a codec. They take for granted that I know how to do this or what it is for that matter. Any help would be appreciated. I have been stuck at this step for 3 days!

If you were able to open the AVI in VirtualDub then chances are you already have the correct codec.

Open it again in VirtualDub, select 'File Information' and tell us what it says about the Video & Audio streams.

    How was it ripped?
