I just bought this quite new Toshiba 2550 - which supposingly supports SVCD/VCD/CD/DVD/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-R - basically - perhaps ANY possible format you could imagine. It's also a region-free player. I've also been told it's one of Toshiba's newest models. The model is SD-2550.
However, to my dismay - it has problems with SVCD's. More specifically - Audio Syncronization problems.
The audio doesn't match the video. This happens with several things I've tried burning: A few music videos (Different rippers), and a few movies (not ripped by me - but by KNOWN ripping groups...) - Thus I doubt they would release an out-of-sync version for a movie.
For some wierd (whacked) reason - this is fixed by some wierd (illogical) operation I did by COMPLETE mistake. - Arising from my little knowledge in DVD's.
What I did is press on the 'Angle' button. This would not make sense - of course - to any person alive. This is because there are no 'Angles' when burning SVCD's. At least the ones I did didn't have 'em - and I never heard of angled SVCD's.
This actually triggered a responce - for my DVD player switched to Audio Angle #2. (I was quite puzzled) - at that moment the sound disappered completely. But - to my utter amazement - when I switched back to Audio Angle #1 - (using the same button) - Presto` - Sound is Synched PERFECTLY.
This is ultra wierd... And I don't know how to solve this (certainly putting a lot of stress on that button every day is not a solution... not a good one, that is.)
I suspect the problem might be cuz of my burning program. I got Nero Burner (and so does 90% of the CD-Burner-possessing population) - version 5.5.9.6 - one of the newer ones.
I use the SVCD disk mode in the advanced tab (not wizard) - and add the files that I want to burn - then burn it.
I hope you knowledgeble people @ this forum - could help me out - perhaps there is a trick in NERO to change some options to make this work? or do I need another burner program - that will burn it right?
Or any other comments/Ideas/Suggestions/Etc. - Will be welcome and VERY appriciated.
Thank you all for your time, patience, and desire to help :P

What do you use to convert the movie, is it nero you use to convert and burn, if so nero is crap at converting, let me know before I can give you an answer.

I'm not sure if nero is converting...
cuz when I add the videos - Nero automatically tells me if they are standard for SVCD or not. It takes a little (1-2min) to check if vid is compliant with SVCD - and then it just burns it. I'd assume converting takes a while - so it probably is not converting - only burning the files so a dvd player can read 'em.
Is Nero causing the problems? do you think? even if it's not converting? Perhaps it's time to get a new proggie for burning...? What would you recommend?
Thanks for your help...

One easy way to see if the file is ok is to see if there are any sync issues when playing in WinDVD or PowerDVD. If it plays ok there, your DVD player is likely at fault.
Are you cutting the files at all? One thing to try is to re-mux the SVCD file again in TMPGenc as SVCD and then test it on your software player. If it still plays fine on that, try a new burn. You NEVER want to let Nero convert. Most files if they are in basic SVCD specs, can be made to play better on a stand alone DVD player by simply re-muxing in TMPGenc.
