  1. I have a spdif output on my SB live (or something like that) 5.1 card.
I'm connecting it to my Home cinema amplifier, digital (RCA) input.
Often getting pro logic only, sometimes flickering to DD 5.1 when playing DVD. Read somewhere on the net about voltage/potential problem with the output of the SB card. Solved by using a pulldown resistor or similar. Anyone know about this problem and solution?

  2. I've never heard of this problem, but I haven't kept up with it much. The only thing I can think of besides a defect on the card is an underpowered signal due to excessive cable length. Your cable going from the SPDIF output on the SB Live to the SPDIF input on the Receiver isn't really long is it?

  3. Yes, I have read about this problem, not sure if the HoonTech Digital IO add-on card solves it or not, I have an SBLive without the digital IO card, I wanted to cap AC3 so I bought a Phillips acoustic edge. Works great.

I do not recall the exact symptoms or fix (if any) for the SBLive output problem, but there does seem to be some kind of voltage problem.
