I've got a divx movie (The Green Mile) and I've tried to convert it to a mpeg (VCD) but if I convert the movie, the sound in the movie comes earlyer then the video. I've read that it could be something with the framerate, but i didn't understand that. Its a 23.976 fps. Could somebody help me solving this problem?

When your converting to MPEG, your video is probably being converted at a different framerate than your audio.
You didn't mention what your converting your DIVX with either. What encoder? What options are you using?Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything... -
I used TMPGEnc, but I am not sure what options I used( I actually dont know which options I must used) Can you help me further now?

First, a couple of simple suggestions. Make sure your source movie's sound is in sync. Go to the end of the movie (give or take), and see if the audio is in sync in your source file.
If the audio is in sync, then there are probably errors in it, which will need to be corrected.
Try opening the movie with VirtualDub. It will usually warn you when there is a problem with the audio (Audio will introduce xxx milliseconds of skew blah blah blah). This is a good indicator that your audio is in need of work.
Open the file in Virtual Dub, and goto FILE | FILE INFORMATION. This should tell you what kind of audio format your DIVX has. Make a note of it (i.e AC3, MP3, etc)
Select FILE | SAVE AS WAVE
Give it any filename. Depending on what type of file it was, when the save is finshed, change the extension of your saved file to the correct type ( MP3, AC3, etc). So if you saved your file as EXTRACT.WAV, and Virtual Dub tells you the audio in your DIVX is AC3, then rename your EXTRACT.WAV to EXTRACT.AC3
You then have to use a repair utility on the file to repair whatever errors it may have. If the file is AC3, use AC3Fix.exe. If the file is MP3, I usually use WinAmp to play the file out to a WAV file (Winamp is very forgiving of encoding errors). I don't know of an MP3 repair tool, but someone else here might.
Once you get the sound fixed, use any of the audio encoders to convert it to MP2 (HeadAc3he,BeSweet, TooLame)
Encode your Video file, WITHOUT the audio, and then multiplex your fixed sound back into your encoded MPG, or M2V.
If you get stuck somewhere along the line, just drop a note into the forum, and someone will help you.Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything... -
Just a little follow up on this. I ran into a simular situation, where I downloaded a movie in PAL format. The audio originally was for a 25 frame per second (fps) movie. I used pulldown to convert it to 23 fps, and to insert the pulldown flags, but forgot about the audio. Use the BeSweet GUI, to change the audio to match your source movie. It comes with a few preconfigured selections ( PAL to FILM, NTSC to PAL, etc ).
