Hi yall, ive just ripped Slap Shot 2 DVD to vob files using smartripper. When i watch the movie with the actual dvd there is black space above and below the movie, but when i rip with smartripper the space is gone and the whole video is stretch. How do go about retifying this ??
Cheers !!

Is there more than one version of the movie on the dvd. if that is the case you will need to make sure you rip the widescreen version instead of the fullscreen. and how did you watch what you ripped. did you re-encode the vob files? if so maybe a mistake was made when encoding and it changed it to 4:3 instead of 16:9

No only one version. I ripped the vob files wihout knowingly changing any ratios, i presume there might be an option in smartripper to do with video ratios, but i assumed it would rip 'as is'.
(there are a lot of presumptions in that para of text....) -
in tmpgenc under the advanced under source aspect ratio choose 16x9 if they seem tall. if they are wide chose 4:3

Still a no go, i messed around in TMPEGEnc with just about every combination but still stretched. Is there a VOB ripper that allows you to change the option of video size. (Smart ripper does show you the video size but on most of my DVD's it shows 4:3 instead of 16:9 and theres no way to change it !?)
