  1. I know this will sound like a stupid question but I was wondering if it is possible to make a dvd without having to make all the menus and chapters. I don't really care to make it look all fancy, I just want to put the disc into the player and just hit play. Is this possible or do you absolutely need to make chapters and menus?

You don't need menus or chapters. You could basicly just set the main video as the first play item. The free dvdtodvd tool ifoedit will soon support basic authoring from an mpeg video and audio file , read more here http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/index.html

Until then you have to use another authoring tool like spruceup, ulead moviefactory or something www.vcdhelp.com/tools#dvdburn

  3. yes you can i did that with no authoring software...just load your mpeg2
to a dvd burning software (ner0,easy) and burn, nero will create the directorty stracture ( tip:add a directory called AUDIO_TS)and thats it
when you put the finale movie in a dvd it will play right away....

wizzy: but you must have authored the mpeg2 to vobs before using nero or ifoedit. If you ripping dvds it works great though.
