  1. Hey there. I got the hacked drivers from sourceforge, and they seem good so far. virtualdub and my webcam can now both ID and use the card, but as predicted, the viewing program that came with the card is now useless.
Can anyone suggest a video viewing program that would work for my needs? The pinnacle program was nice because a) it could minimize to just the playing window, b) had pre-set framesizes as well as arbitrary and full-screen, c) would de-interlace for me while i watched, and d) would un-mute my line-in when it started, and mute it again when i closed the application.

If anyone knows of a program that can do these things and works with the sourceforge drivers, I'd be eternally in their debt.

  2. DScaler - deinterlace.sourceforge.net
    MyTV - www.myTv.free.fr
    ATV - www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/amphitheatre/4759
    BorgTV - www.kki.net.pl/~borgx
    GlobeTV - www.knc1.com/
    TVActive - www.sagebrush.com
    ChrisTV - christv.port5.com
    JTV - jtvhost.chat.ru/en/files.html

Not sure how current the links are but DScaler is probably one of the better tv apps because it has so many features including the BEST deinterlacing found in any app, compared to Pinnacle's apps; well let's just say Pinnacle software looks like it was coded by some 1st year undergrad = cr@p. Even has on the fly noise reduction filter and couple of other filters to help the picture look all the more better.

One problem althouhg not really a problem is that usually if you change the channel on the PCTV application and then use Vdub, Vdub will display the channel last used by the Pinnacle app. Dscaler does not influence what channel/source Vdub will see when you go to capture with it. So maybe VirtualVCR might be better for changing the channels on your card.

  3. I use a vcr for tuning and i take input from composite, so i basically never want it changed to anything other than composite. will Dscaler have a problem with that?

Thanks for the info, by the way, i wasn't expecting such a number of programs to try out. hehe.
