  1. I downloaded a DIVX .AVI file, but when I try to convert it to .MPEG it gives me an error that the audio is compressed and cannot convert it. What tool do I use to Uncompress the Audio?

If the audio is .mp3, I'd suggest maybe try Winamp's "DiskWriter" plugin, it'll rip from mp2 or mp3 to WAV in seconds.

To extract the .mp3 form a DivX, I think you might want to try Nandub vs. VirtualDub... I think it's more adapted to this feature... but DON'T quote me!

  3. AVI2VCD has a "Decompress" utility that will create a new AVI with PCM (uncompressed) Audio.

I have used this several times to help convert DivX files.

Be warned though that a 500MB DivX AVI with Compressed Audio can easily go well over 1GB with Uncompressed Audio.

Make sure you have enough room before the "Decompression".
