  1. Does anyone know what the minimum system requirements (processor, memory, capture card) are to capture using the Huffy codec? My computer always hangs and I'd like to know if I need to upgrade my system.

If your computer hangs then it's an operating system error, not huffyuv.

You don't by chance have a VIA based MB?

  3. My system is only a Celeron 633 with 64 MB RAM at PC100 (8MB shared for video) and I'm trying to capture with a Studio VCD capture card using the Huffy codec. My video and sound are VIA.

cpu ok - but more memory may be a good idea ..

running any windows on 64meg is pretty ragged ..

try fastest / lossless setting (top right hand window) of huffyuv .. less cpu/system overhead (bigger file though)

  5. Thank you all for your advice -- I'll give the Huffy settings a try. I've actually tried adding more memory (64MB RAM - PC100) but my computer started working funny and hanging even more, especially VirtualDub.

your system is faster than mine, but i can cap with out dropping frames usually,i mainly use morgan mjpg codec it never dropes frames, and try another capture program like av-io or video wave, virtual dub drops frames alot when i use it but if i use a different capture program it works great.i can capture huffyuv also with out dropping frames, even 480 by 480.

    Hi svet

    >> I've actually tried adding more memory (64MB RAM - PC100) but my computer started working funny and hanging...

    1) Unplug memory and plug it in other computer. Maybe you've got a bad memory.
    2) Both memories must be of the same type, both PC100 or both PC133 or...
    3) In a system with four slots place one memeory card in first and second in third slot so that memory interleaving can take place - will work slightly faster.
