  1. What DVD authoring software would you all recommend that is easy to use and handles motion menu backgrounds?

    Thanks a bunch.

  3. Well, thanks for nothing...did you even read my damn post? I didn't ask HOW to burn DVD's...I asked for RECOMMENDATIONS on what the best authoring software, based on people's uses...is the best.

I know how to do it, I just don't want to waste my money on software without hearing the whole story first...obviously, it appears hosts don't read too well here.

I have 2 points to make:
    1. This isn't a realtime chat so it might take a while to get the response you want.
    2. If you want help I'd lose the attitude.
    Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

  5. I don't think there is currently an easy to use all in one solution. The whole thing is very frustrating. Maybe you'll get lucky and manage to capture the video and then you'll find you can't edit it because your program doesn't accept that format or because your system freezes. Then you'll figure that out and you'll find that after 3 hours of rendering the program freezes. Then you get past that and burn a DVD but it won't play in your stand alone DVD player.

It isn't hopeless though. This site is your best bet for success. I'm finally making great DVD's. I capture with VirtualDub (free, look in the tools section). I edit and burn with Studio 8 (Purchased at Best Buy for around 100.00). For myself I have found that I don't have too much trouble if I capture in avi format with Huffyuv compression. Yes Studio 8 makes nice motion menus. You will almost certainly run into snags and have to come here for help so be nice. You're not the first one to snap at people who are trying to help and you won't be the last.

  6. Presto,

Thank you for your advice. I have been eyeing Studio 8 and wondering about it. Perhaps I'll give that a try.

    Thanks again.

P.S. Why don't you capture with Studio 8? Just curious...why VirtualDub?

  7. When I capture with Studio 8 the audio starts out synchronized and slowly goes out of sync. I never have this problem with VirtualDub. I have requested on the support board that there should be a tool to fix out of sync audio but they seem to think audio sync is not a problem. They suggested just dragging the audio over a bit which clearly won't work if it is in sync and the begining and out of sync later on.

  8. That makes sense to me, I will download VirtualDub...is it difficult to use and can you use it to capture analog?

  9. I found VirtualDub very easy to use. The How To's on this site will get you going. I capture from VHS tape most of the time.
