  1. I have a Sony DV 100 camera capturing to avi through a Audigy sound/Firewire card.

The definition around moving objects seems "furry" and not defined- this gets worse when converted using TMPenc to MPEG2 or MPEG1`s for (S)VCD disks burnt using Nero.

I also have a Sont 32" widescreen- is this the fault of the TV size that I get this effect?

When I connect the DV camera to the TV directly, the picture is perfect.

    DV is a strange beast.

What you are probably seeing is some form of "Mosquito Noise" that is apparent in all mpeg/jpeg/dv compression. First off as I have said many time, calibrate your TV. Once calibrated you might find further discussion moot since the problem is dimished or completly gone.

You may need to apply some noise reduction in TMPGenc to lessen the problems. I would recommend since you have crisp DV that you concentrate on temportal NR and not spacial ( I use 2-10,1,3-50 depending on source ).

    Good luck and keep truckin.

    Under advanced.

Just don't apply too much. Too much can cause banding, smearing and ghosting on moving objects. My test is facs, since if it's too much that's where you will be able to see it first.

In the main screen, select-->Settings-->Advanced tab. Noise Reduction is an option.
    Hello.
