DVD coded in MPEG-2 format with build-in Premiere 6.5 codec does not work well in my stand alone DVD player (Pioneer DV-444). The DVD stucks for 0.5 seconds occasionally. If I code to MPEG-2 format with TMPGEnc, it works fluidly, without stucks and pauses.
I want to use Premiere 6.5 codec because it gives far better picture quality than TMPGEnc. Do you know where is the problem with build in MPEG-2 codec in Premiere 6.5?
I am using DVD template in Premiere codec and I get video chops on the same place of the video... I burned same video on another DVD-R and I, also, get chops on the same place. The problem is in Premiere coder.
    Help me, please...

  2. Premiere uses MainConcept MPEG Encoder plugin, which is an excellent encoder. If playback is jerky, you better check field order of your encoding. Try different field order and see if it works.

I encode the video with MainConcept MPEG-2 codec and it works on my stand-alone DVD player.
When I encode video with build-in Premiere codec (also MainConcept) it pauses on some scenes for 0.5 seconds and then continue to play.
Any ideas? The setting are the same on both codecs.

From what I've read, there's a couple of different things you can try to find out if it's definitely Premiere.

Try a different DVD player. If it does the same thing in the same place you know it's not the player at fault.

Try a rendering different piece of footage. Maybe there's something in the clip you're using that Premiere doesn't like. I've also have come across a problem with freezes like that when I used Tmpeg to re-render an mpeg file. The original file plays fine, but the new clip pauses every time I've tried to reencode it.

I've also found that Dazzle's DVD Complete doesn't like the Premiere DVD codec either, the A/V gets waaaay out of sync.

  5. To Stile,

Have you been able to resolve this?

I am having the same problem (with a Pioneer 646) but so far I havenīt found a solution despite trying different authoring programs and different media. Iīm also having sound problems with TMPGenc (but thatīs the subject of a different post).

No, I didn't find the solution. I am using CCE now and it works great.

There is no CCE plug-in for Premiere. It is stand-alone coding program (CCE) and I am doing frameserving from Premiere's tieline into CCE.

Quite correct, but having tried both I find the standalone version to be better. Personal preference I suppose.
