  1. I've used a few different programs to make a VCD of my photographs and also of mpegs, and each time I have got a disk error when about 90% has been completed. I have a feeling it is something to do with the "Buffer under run" problem and have tried burning at slower speeds to stop it happening. It doesn't though. I am wasting disk after disk trying this and really would appreciate a solution to this annoying problem.

    Thanks

We need more info: size disc, burner, spped of PC, what and how much are you trying to fit on disc.....

Buffer under run will usally say so...but not always...If you have a Older Pc (read slow) or an older CDR drive...You sometimes get "coasters" if you try to use to PC for anything while burning.

Errors towards the end are often from trying to put too much on it, The disc size may be close, but not enough room to do a lead out...programs such as Nero wont let you burn more than the capacity of the disc...unless you mess with the defaults..such as overburning.

  4. The error I am getting is "Drive is not ready"
I have tried lessening the amount of data to be written. I am not using about 200mb so it's well short of the max.
My PC is a 1800mhz Pentium 4 and is pretty high spec throughout.
As for the type of disk, it is unspecified, it came with the pc and doesn't seem to carry a brand name.

Can you access any data on any cd in that drive?
Can you burn anything else in the drive? Data, ..ect .
This sounds like a program/ os problem not specific to the making of a VCD but with any disc...

  6. The drive works fine for anything else. It starts burning the vcd ok and only fails towards the end. No matter how big the file size it always seems to be at a similar point.
I burn mp3's on it no problem, ever.

OK...Step One..if this is a CDRW drive start using cdrws till this gets worked out...that way you just erase and try again with out wasting a bunch of cdrs...

Step Two..Uninstall Nero and get a different burning program....If you still want Nero goto Nero.com and see if they have a newer or older version than yours to download (when it asks during install use your same reg number of the one you have)
If not try VCD easy...its free....see tools on the left here for more options/ links

  8. I'm using ULead not Nero in this instance as I'm trying to get my photo's up.
The cdrw is a good idea that I've just implemeted

  9. Also I've just tried deleting most of the photo's leaving only a single folder of them. Still same response.

I guess I just stuck Nero in there...in that case I would use Nero for this.

  11. How would I go about saving the file in nero?
There seems to be about 4 separate working files in ULEAD and I'm not sure which to use
