Hello Everybody...
I want to convert my old VHS PAL tapes to VCDs ... but until now my attempts was a disaster ... Let's see you experts can help me ...
I am using my Pinnacle DC10+ to create 640x480 AVI files, but when I convert to VCD, the quality is really bad ... I cannot see the eyes of people's faces ! I read something about Inverse Telecine (IVCT), but I wasn't able to do it ...![]()
Can you please send me some guidelines ?![]()
Thanks

What are you using to convert your AVI file to MPEG-1? If you used TMPGEnc, did you use the VCD template from the Load function?
Hello. -
Hi Tommyknocker
Yep, I am using TMPGEnc, and the VCD template from the Load function. -
I once tried the DC30 from pinnacle (a friend of mine was selling it and he gave it to me to try - it's pretty similar to the DC10) and i was very dissapointed with the result. The reason - and i think is one of the reasons why your VCD's end up pretty bad - is that this card has onboard MJPEG compression (like the DC10). There is no way to capture uncompressed. Converting these highly compressed AVI's to MPEG didn't give a good result - for me at least. I get far better results just using my old PCTV card, capturing uncompressed and then converting with TMPEG. So maybe this is part of your problem too.
