  1. I'm planning to get a prolink pixelview as my capture card.

    my computer:

    P-3-600Mhz
    128SDRAM,PC-100
    10.2 Quantum fireball LCT - 5400rpm driveD:
    10.2 Excelstor - 5400rpm =Drive C:
    Cyberdrive 32x12x48
    DVD 16x40x

I'm planning to capture VHS, Video8, and TV using Pixelview. Is my system enough to avoid dropping of pictures? I'll be saving the captured video to Drive d: wich is the quantum HDD.

What do i need to upgrade and retain?
    PLEASE HELP!!!

  2. Scope out my Computer profile. I cap easily at 480 x 480 with Picvideo compression. I have a 7200 RPM drive though (it seems to be recommended). Uncompressed AVI files are going to eat up that 10G drive rather quickly too.

  3. What if i'll use an MPEG-1/VCD encoder rather than a TV tuner to capture motion picture to compressed motion picture?

Would my system be enough without dropping frames?

    Thanks

You mean a real time MPEG-1 capture program? I don't have any experience with that. I think I tried WinVCR but it only let me cap about 20 seconds (free trial). You might be better off with a hardware MPEG encoder if you want to go that route....

  5. You got me right. I'll use Real time Mpeg-1/VCD encoder hardware. I don't need tV in my computer anyway. And even i need to record a TV program I'm planning to use the tuner of my VCR connected to the MPEG hardware.

    Thanks for the input.
