  1. I have a couple of DivX movies that I want to convert to VCD or SVCD mpg format.

I'm using mainly TPMGENC 12i for this kind of conversions.

Now, when starting the conversion TPMGENC stops immediately with a "error opening audio" message.

I tried to convert the audio with VIRTUADUB, but VIRTUADUB keeps crashing at 99% completion.

Thanks to some advise I finally managed to convert the audio with TPMGENC.

Unfortunately i still get the same error message from TPMGENC even when using this WAV file as the Audio source.

I should say that the WAV file looks a bit weird... it's over 3GB and claims to be oveer 3hours long,
when the movie is just under 2 hours.

I tried with a program called AVI2WAV. The resulting Audio score is only about 100MB. It sounds ok when played by itself, but when "merged" with the Video, the resulting Mpg movie "chops" the audio (sounds like a record with one big scratch across).

What I find most annoying is that the movies plays wonderfully in Windows... No problems whatsoever,
both picture and audio are just great.

    What am I doing wrong?

Please if you have any suggestions, share them with me.

    Thanks.

I've had the same problem with some divx-avi files. Sometimes I've had to re-encode them with vdub, using codecs I know will work in tmpg. I guess it just depends on the source.

Had also the same problem, when I saved it to .wav vdub crashes, oddly enough when I save it as mp3 it goes fine
so I use soundforge the convert the file to wav and this works for me, and have you tried frameserving the divx from vdub to tmpgenc, I have problems with 2 cd divx (hannibal) when I load the divx (cd1 or cd2), the mpg came out without any sound only video, but when I frameserve it from vdub it's going fine.
    Hope this helps.
