  1. I'm working on only my 2nd rip which is Blade2. I've been using the "split to 2 DVD-R's " guide and have a strange problem.

The 1st DVD is working fine but the 2nd one is displaying the subtitles straight away when playing back on a standalone player. I adjusted the First Play PGC command to go straight to the movie when the 2nd disk is played but it kinda defeats the purpose when you have to go to the menu anyway to switch off the subtitles !!!! When I preview within IFOedit it plays ok with no subtitles....

I'm in the process of stripping the subs from the 2nd disk right now but would love to know what I've done wrong. If anyone need to see the setting withing IFOedit just ask and I'll post whatever you want.

    Thanks

  4. Update : Last night I followed the guide to rip/split/burn Black Hawk Down and guess what ?? Same Problem !! 2nd disk start with the English Subtitles switched on !

I'm not doing any authoring or re-encoding, this is purely a rip using DVD-Decrypter, split using IFOedit and burn using imgtool & DVD-Decrypter.

Starting to pull my hair out now as I can't see where I'm going wrong.

Using IFOedit , where can I check to see what is causing this ?? I've sat and compared the setting for disk1 and disk2 and can't see any obvious differences so I'm lost.

  5. Another Update : Just updated my copy of Power DVD from 3.0 to XP 4.0 That has allowed me to run the movie directly from my Hard Drive and when I do that the 2nd disk works perfectly (ie movie starts instantly and no subtitles). I'm now thinking that if the playback via Power DVD is accurate then is it my burn method that is causing the problem ?
I've played back the affected DVD's on a standalone player, PC & PS2 and it's definetly a disk problem rather than a player issue.

I've been using imgtools to create an image and then DVD-Decrypter to burn to DVD. I'm trying Nero as I write this to see if that solves the problem.

Starting to get lonely here replying to my own posts....anyone else out there with any ideas ???

  6. Hi Gredo:

I have a similiar problem, i rip the original movie (>4,3) and i use infoedit to split in 2 DVD-R, burn with nero and first disk don't paly on my standalone dvd (error data) but plays ok on my dvd-rom.
Some one on this forum told me this have to be because of diferents id's using the same Vts_xx_xx.Vob.
So i try a diferent way, i use infoedit to take of audio and subtitles extras, so i Keep the movie with 1 English audio a 1 Portuguese subtitle.
Play ok on dvd-rom but on my standalone player the filme is ok but no subtitles.

I don't know what to do!!!

  7. Jessops, sounds like we got different problems mate......My disks are playing fine on standalone players & PC's but I just can't get rid of the damn subtitles on the 2nd disk !!!! Thanks for the reply anyway.
You might want to try the tutorial on Doom9 for this as it's what I've been using to do the split, you might have more luck than me
    http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ifoedit-2dvdrs.htm

Now back to my problem :-
I tried a burn using NERO and had the same problem so my burn method is not the issue. I went out and bought a DVD-RW disk to save wasting my precious DVD-R's

The lack of response so far leads me to believe that either no-one else has experienced this issue or no-one cares !!!

My lack of experience when viewing the multitude of options and adjustments in IFOedit is gonna make this a tricky one to solve. I can't believe that someone out there doesn't know how to turn-on subtitles by default as this would point me in the direction I need to go to turn them off !!!! (inverse logic I think you'd call it)
