Since I have NOT resolved my AIW video to VHS issues (I can get it to work but not pretty and PAIN to setup)

Is there a GOOD DV Iee1394 to Analog converter ? What I can do or am thinking is Video Factory will let me write out EXACTLY what I want to a DV device. So can I do same throughh a converter ?

The picture Video Factory produces is fine. Its just the dang AIW thats a pain. Resetting the screen size, connections, black border or borders, bad colors or brightness. Ugg. Surely there is an easier way ?

Why I am so adament on getting this working. I have a business started taking videos. Converting to VCD is not an issue after production. But I need to be able to get it on video tape.
What would a pro setup be ? My machine is A++. My software is varied and I range from FREE MGI to ADOBE premier to Video Factory.

what do I need to simply put out to video tape, ONLY what I see in a window...

Thanks to all who have been helping...

  2. I'm not quite clear on what you're doing. You say that the DV you are outputting to the VCR is not getting the correct colors, brightness, borders, etc.? I haeve no experience working with DV, but if you can convert your DV to VCD, then why not convert the DV to MPEG2 or Divx, then play the MPG or avi file out to the VCR. I know this is more cumbersome than what you were looking for, but at least it's a temporary solution. I have two ATi cards in seperate computers (one Radeon 64 ViVO, one Radeon 8500 128mb) that I output to my VCR daily, and as long as I use the ATi file player, all borders, colors,. etc. are fine.

    Hope this helps

    Sorry. Let me clarify.

It is the ATI out that is the issue.

Doesn't matter if I am playing AVI (best quality) or an MPEG, the result out to the VCR is off.

I have to first set the DISPLAY to TV monitor (you do too , right ?) and Making it 640 by 480 or 800 by 600, no matter what, I get black borders. In some cases I get a BIG black border on the left , small on right, top and bottom. If I shift the screen around (advanced for TV monitor) , then it straighetens out but the picture is really bad.

I took some advice here, burned an VCD (trying SVCD now) and copied from DVD player to VHS direct. MUCH better !

    Sigh..This should NOT be that hard....Thanks !
