My GE-1101P and my Apex AD-1500 both read the CompUSA 99 min. CD-Rs just fine. It's the next best thing to a DVD burner (which I just bought!).

I've read that most current (and many older) consumer electronics can read them just fine. The main problem with reading (and writing) a 99-minute CD is that the spiral is wound so tightly that some older readers have trouble staying locked in on it.

You're actually more likely to have trouble writing 99-minute blanks. Many burners have firmware that won't write past a certain point, I've heard that 84 minutes is a common limit. Some burners also have trouble staying aligned in the spiral at the outer edge of the CD and can't successfully burn at higher speeds, but again most newer hardware should be able to handle that.

One interesting problem is that extracting data from a 99-minute CD sometimes doesn't work. I've heard that trying to rip a VCD burned past 95 minutes often fails, even though the VCD might play just fine. I've never tried, I've never burned more than about 90 minutes (3 30-minute shows).
