  2. I used the same programs before
I think in dvdx you have to open the ifo file
    not the vob file.

Why are you ripping the dvd ?

I have found it doesn't really increase the processing speed.

  4. its always better to rip it the harddrive as this little proggy uses your dvd drive constantly which may in turn kill the drive after a while!!! constant spinning for hours cant be good!! Anyway this prog uses the ifo file on the main vob set.

dvddecrytor to take to the dive
then use dvdx & open the ifo!!

Why R U using this program anyway as the quality is really manky compaired to tmpeg????

    Kev!

ps with regard to DLB.. it does infact cut the time down as its not dragging the vobset to the drive as its already there

Hey I'm sorry P@iNKilleR, but my machine will process a film i.e Swordfish in 1 hour 47 mins. DVDx will process at around 23 frames per second, just under real time playing. Even tweaking the setting to the higher quality vcd the film is processed in just over 2 hours (18 frames per second)

I admit there are some pieces of blockiness but it is very acceptable. I tried using your method and the process time was going to be around 8 hours, far too long for me.

    Hi again,

    no offence taken.

    I have a HP model 781 uk.

Intel P4 2.0 ghz processor 256 mb ram.

    dlb.

ps - I have also tried easyvcd last night and the results are about the same as dvdx, but takes longer and I had problems getting the correct audio. The program kept crashing.

DVDX in my humble opinion is still the easiest and the best for the novice.

dvdX encodings are far worse than of eg. TMPGenc.... Let dvdX frameserve and let tmpgenc do the encoding, with or without subtitles, the quality is FAR better!!

btw: do NOT use rgb24 in dvdX, use rgb32 instead.... the image is more like the source and not overlighted etc.
