  1. Excuse me if this post is O.K. here, I just bought a VAIO desktop, and have never used a DVD-RW drive. I have DivX files I would like to transfer as data to a DVD-R is this possible? My computer came with the sonic DVDit! software but doesnt seems to get the job done. I tried dragging and dropping the files from my computer and that neither helps, I spoke with Sony tech support and they could not help me (the tech support representative lacked real knowledge to the DVD-RW drive) I know it is a Pioneer 104 drive, do I need a firmware? or is it just that DVD's are only for video and not for data. Please help me!!

  6. BJ_M,
thanks a lot for the advice, I just cant believe I spoke with two tech support representatives in Sony that could not help me transfering the data, and the worst part is that they told me there was nothing I could do about it. Textually: Windows XP and the Pioneer 104 do not support the transfer of data as a CD-RW we are sorry.
I got pissed off cause I do not know anything about movies I just payed the extra 200 bucks of the computer for the DVD-RW drive so I could manage the storage of my files, and now they tell me nothing can be done! But now thanks to this amazing forum and thanks to you BJ I finally could transfer perfectly my files to 3 DVD-R's!! Flawlessly. I really appreciate it very much
