  1. I emailed Ann, salesperson at Provideo inquiring about the difference between the PV-256C/T and the PV-256C/T PRO. Here was her response:

    "Simply to say that they are using the different chipset and,
    PV256 Pro is with more function and good quality than PV256
    Price also different and for these we have With TV Tuner or Without TV Tuner."

    Has anybody tried the PRO version? Ann's response implies they're using different mpeg chips contrary to what was said in a previous thread. I can't find that information in the specs at the site. Anyway, I'm thinking about trying one. Speak now before I throw away my money if you think it's a bad idea. It costs $210.

    PV-256C/T PRO is using the Conexant CX23415 formally GlobespanVirata iTVC15 aka which petty much the same chip that come from iCompression to start with.
    Here list that are using that same chip.
    Navis Pro - Pentamedia
    PIX-MPTV/P1W - Pixela
    GV-MPG3TV/PCI - IO Data
    MPG160 PCI TV - Yuan
    PV-256C PRO - ProVideo
    PV-256T PRO - ProVideo
    WinTV-PVR 250 - Hauppague
    WinTV-PVR 350 - Hauppague (an upcoming product)
    Snazzi IV DVD Mill - Snazzi (an upcoming product)

  3. All the other cards have some kind of cooling such as a fan or heatsink with the exception of the Provideo unless they're just not showing it in the picture.

    If romer are still ture it should look like this

    Yes that rigth look just like a Navis Pro card the picture there show is the first PV-256 card

  5. Somebody needs to review PV256 PRO. Maybe I'll be the guinea pig.

    Does it have hardware mpeg decoding like the PVR 350?

    Yes hardware mpeg decoding like the PVR 350 on both ProVideo model do just be ware there two type of cards from Provideo.
    PV-256C PRO (Without a TV Tuner).
    PV-256T PRO (With a TV Tuner).
