  1. I re-encoded a 6GB .m2v file with Missing Mpeg Tools, ended up with a 3.6 GB .mpv file, which is good, cause now the Video Track and the Audio Track both fit on a Blank DVD. I built the disk in DVD Studio Pro then burned it.

When I play it on the computer it plays just fine no skips no audio problems, but when I try it on my 2 Stand alone DVD players, in one of the Stand alones it plays the video clearly with out hesitation, but the audiop cuts out every 2 seconds then comes back then cuts out over and over. On the other stand alone the video is really jerky and so is the audio.

This must have something to do with the way I re-encoded it, where did I go wrong? anyone anyone?

what format is your audio in? I'm wondering, with 3.6 GB in video, if you didn't use PCM. If so, some players choke on the higher datarate imposed by PCM. If this is the case, encode it to AC-3.

Also make sure you didn't convert audio down to 44,1 as most DVD players require 48khz sound.

  4. I did not convert the audio file at all, I just grabed the .ac3 file that was ripped off and droped it in DVD Studio Pro with the new .MPV file that was re-encoded.

  5. Correct me if I am wrong but a .m2v file I pull off a DVD is the same as a .mpv file that is generated after re-encoding?

.m2v and .mpv are both mpeg video streams. Diffrent name based on the defaults of the program you are using. They are the same type of file, yes.
