I've been doing the research, but I haven't actually found the exact answer I'm looking for. Here's what I want to do... hopefully someone can help:
I have about 2 dozen MPEG1 VCD compliant movies that I put on a VCD. No problems... they play fine on both PC and Standalone players. About 1 dozen of those movies are still picture MPEG videos that display a still on-screen for about 8 seconds and cycle to the next still. I have no control over advancing or reviewing stills within the videos, but I can toggle between the separate videos.
What I am wondering is, if there is a way to put the first 12 movies onto a VCD and then insert the 150+ stills onto the same disc (after the videos) so that I can advance or rewind from still to still without them being compiled into videos that advance automatically. I have no need for this VCD to be menu driven, but it could be an option if need be.
I read numerous posts that VCD's only allow for 99 tracks, and thought that was only for menu selectable tracks, but yet I'm confused as to how the Segment Items work and how that can be used to hold approx 2000 images?
What is the best way to accomplish my task?
Thanks in advance!

drop the jpegs directly into nero.
it will process them. then you will get them and the time between will be infinate.
be ware, some players cannot see the 'segment' area where they are put.
some players can only see this area with pbc on and menu enabled.
i believe my player can hold either 999 or 9,999 images.
jpegs and bitmaps you drop directly will be placed in segment.

All VCD2.0 compliant players (essentially all DVD players) will play segment items (stills at least) properly assuming the disc is correctly authored.
PBC must be turned on.
VCD2.0 only allows for 1980 (I think) segment items (read the VCDImager manual).

Now, are these (or should these) be treated by most players as 'Tracks', or as separate 'segment' data? Particularly on a Pioneer 343 model (buying one today)
I would think that NERO would force you to only use up to 99 (since it has the same options for delay you see on CD or video tracks)... but maybe I'm wrong? I hope?
Or, if it's separate, then I'm guessing it'll play whatever video you have first, and you can only access the photos using PBC somehow? or do they play in order?...

The still images must be segment items. They can only be assesible via PBC.
If you do any authoring with VCDImager, you'd realise that you could set them to pause for however long you want (even indefinitely). They won't automatically play, though. The PBC must be authored or you won't be able to view your stills on your player.

I can see (experimented a little) that in NERO, you can make a menu system for the pictures... So I assume you'd just hit "menu" and it would pop up? I'll try that...
Thanks for the info, once again...
