    Hi Danzic

    My 2 cents.
I make a lot of SVCD`s from my home movies, DV source-interlaced plus I have made some encodes from a friend who works semi-professional creating small films/videos for clubs & companies, he uses anaolg Cameras.

The results we get from Tmpgenc(mpeg 1 & 2) encodes are excellent. The only encoder I found which I might consider equal or better was Procoder.
I cant say anything about CCE as I have never used it for a DV source.
Once I tried Ligos encoder about 6 months ago, the encode was so poor I never touched it again(this may have been user error-not sure)

    cheers

    Hi Robert,

Well if you can fix the three problems listed below and
provide me with a free p4 for home use (LSX needs SSE2 too badly)
I'd be only be too happy to bump LSX up to number 1.

    1) DV video causes strange effects at the darker scenes (fixed luma scale problem)
    2) low pass and median filter removed for interlaced encoding
    3) bitrate spikes using simple vbr

  3. Hi everyone, well all my problems are solved !!
I am now using the fantastic VFAPI Reader.
Create a project file in Tmpgenc using the template i need, convert it in the VFAPI reader to a fake AVI, Then drop this AVI into CCE for a conversion that is perfect for my needs & Can be dropped straight into Ulead DVD factory to create my DVD !!
( Its much much faster than doing all my encoding in Tmpgenc also) - I highly recommend this method !!
    Cheers !!
