After hundreds of encodes with Tmpgenc, I have recently been able to put a finger on some of the erros i get occasionally.
Using two pass vbr in tmpgenc 2.56 plus, with the cache set to either 2 or 4 gig for the analytic pass (depending on how much free space i have that day) occasionally errors would come in the write module doing encodes. But these would only come with certain movies (d2v files rather) and never at the same point. It also is not a disk space issue, as I am quite conscious of how much space i have and need for both the output and the temporary cache. it got to the point where I tried breaking a single movie up into 8 separate sections, hoping the short length would not encounter this problem. Well, 3 of the 8 encoded no problem (No's 1,2,and4 incidentally), but the otehr couldnt even start. I tired the batch multiple times, changing output locations, but smae thing every tmie, couldnt even start the first frame.
Here's the point, thanks for reading. Disabling the "Cache first pass" setting or whatever immediatley allows these encodes to work, in part or in whole. I find this surprising, since this is a hit to the quality without a full first pass (especially for critical encodes). Guess i was wondering if anyone has noticed similar experiences, or possibly this might help someones encodes.
love and peace
