I had my family videos put on DVD, and asked for MPEG2 format. Mistake?
The DVD they gave me has a mp2 file and a mpa file. My computer will not let me copy the mp2 file to the hard drive.
I want to open the files for editing in Pinnacle Studio 8.
Have I made a horrible, basic error?
    Thanks!

sounds like they gave you a data dvd .. because thats not a normal dvd ..

but you can edit them fine ---- im not sure about Pinnacle Studio 8 if it can take mpeg file (which those are) ...

if it cant - you will need to convert the files to avi .. which is easy ..

you will need to install a mpeg2 codec . installing powerdvd or windvd will take care of that . get and install huffyuv codec also

then load the files into either Pinnacle Studio 8 or if they still will not load - load them into tmpgenc mpv is video and mpa is audio..

then in tmpgenc -> file -> save as -> avi -> type huffyuv (set compression to best on right window in config of huffyuv) -> save

load the resulting avi into Pinnacle Studio 8

the avi may be over 4 gig (may be problems for you) or as another option ... personally i would just convert the audio to pcm with tmpgenc and frame serve the video ..

if you need to do this -- thats a next step and is very easy to do ...

it's not the size of the file. The message I get in Windows Explorer is that 'the parameter is incorrect" on the mp2 file

  6. Hi,

i am not sure, but i think win98 is in trouble with such a big-file size. try to use tmpgenc and split your big file into smaller pieces. i think this will solve your problem. if do not how, let me know.
