theholyspirit:
Have you tried using DVD2SVCD instead of the dubs to convert the avi to svcd?
It takes a bit more time but you should give it a try.
Another guess would be to try Graphedit to extract the audiostream. Did you try that? -
Yo, HyperCube!
Your hypercube is cool, but maybe you could add a feature that will inform about bitrate of created audiofile (according to number of channels etc.). It will be usefull when seting encoding bitrate of video trying to fit onto CD. 8)Kill one - you are murderer.
Kill many - you are conqueror!
Kill 'em all - you are GOD!!! -

Hypercube transcoder doesn't appear to work with all .ac3 files. I have encoded several ac3 files with various settings and they are said to be unsupported. What kind of ac3 files can your program handle or cannot handle?

I was trying to load an AVI to VirtualDub and got this message: "Could not loacate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown).
I can play the movie with both sound and video.
Any idea how can I make it work?

Is it possible to make all this with a xvcd?
My DVD player does not accept SVCDs, but I would love to get the "real" surround feeling in my movies...
This -
To this:
as far as I know xvcd is mpeg1 while svcd is mpeg2
So I donīt think itīs possible to mix mpeg2 sound with mpeg1 video
If anyone knows better, Iīm willing to learn.
To Hypercube:
Thx for your great tool. havenīt had any problems with it since I started using it.
If you could add a feature to bring up the volume this would be killer -

Thx for your tip on the higher bitrate but is there a visible effect between 2300 bits/s and 7000 bits/s on a SVCD?
My svcd encoded with 2300 b/s are way sharper than even any VCD, even sharper than the standard TV transmission -
I am trying to make the test svcd from Hypercubes page ... TMPGEnc won't let me change the audio from 224 to 384kbps ???? The option is grayed out.
Using version 2.52.34.129 any ideas ??
-
fusion: load the unlock template after you loaded the svcd template, you find it in the tmpgenc template folder under extra.
-
Okay this is weird, all ac3 files made by Sonic Foundry Soft Encode are said to be unsupported format by hypercube. Any body else have this problem?
-
On many DVD players the SVCD max bitrate is much lower than the DVD MPEG2 bitrate.
I wish I was a firmware coder - I'd eliminate these artificial barriers. But I don't know Chinese or Dutch...Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -
Hi
A little world about hypercube: read the manual, input format is
ONLY AC3 at 48000Hz with 3/2 + LFE configuration.
with 1.1 version, after the AC3 file is rejected, you can see its format
in the window.
to m3ta:
>wrong. as u can easily see browsing the dvd-players list, some allow >mpeg-2 up to 7000k/s. there is no "max 2700 on svcd" limit.
yes but such SVCD are not standard, isn't it ? -

just a question:
Is converting the avi file with the mpeg2 384 kbits/sec audio file in the main window of TMPEG give you the same result as just encoding the video file and adding the audio later with the mpeg-tools?
To Hypercube: If you could give the chance to enhance the volume in your program in a future version, this would be great.
I still love your program as it works well. If just the volume of the output would be better...... -
to your question: yes
to your second question: this will be done.
but don't expect 1.2 release before 2 or 3 weeks... -
I need technical help.
I made a dynamic Range Processor in VC++. Its behaviour is the same
as cooledit with:
Output Gain: 0 dB
Attack Time: 0 ms
Release Time: 0 dB
Level Detector:
Input Gain: 0dB
Attack Time: 0 ms
Release Time: 0 ms
Peak detection
Lookhahead time: 0 ms
so the result is not good. like Cooledit help say:
If the sum of the Attack and Release times is too short (less than 20 milliseconds total), audible effects (such as a vibrating sound) can be heard at around 1000 Hz/ms total. For example, if the Attack and Release times are each set to 5 milliseconds (making 10 milliseconds total), then a vibrating sound at 100Hz will be heard. Thus, a total value of about 30 milliseconds is about as low as you can go without introducing these effects.
is there anybody who can help me to implement attack time and release time ?
how it works ?
Here what my program do:
- take 1 signed 16 bit sample
- convert it into dB
- take the dynamic ratio to apply to this value (looking up in preset curve)
- apply dynamic ratio
- convert into signed 16 bit sample
- loop until end of WAV file...
I had tested some ideas to implement attack time and release time, but none works
properly. (fade in and fade out effect for example)
another question:
how to compute RMS energy with 16 signed samples ?
if my code works properly, I will put it in next release of hypercube transcoder.

Hypercube, your problem is far beyond my skills
Iīm sorry, but Iīm still working on getting even my first VB-skills into myself
But maybe you can help me with another problem:
I jsut encoded a divx file (2 parts) to 2 mpeg2 files and also encoded the audio to mpeg2 audio using your program. but when trying to combine the whole shit TMPEG tells me the files are not compatibale?????
Used the same template on video encoding (CBR with 2100 kbits/sec)
and your proggie for encoding the ac3 stream to mpg
amy suggestions on solving this problem??? -
strange... how did you build your MPEG video stream ?
did you select 384kbps for audio like the MPEG Multichannel ?
did you select Multiplex type as MPEG-2 super video CD VBR ?
if not. try this. -
Hypercube, I did it like I allways did, Used TMPEG to encode the mpeg2 file, demultiplexed it to get the pure video stream and multiplexed with the 384 audio stream
The original avi file was a divx4 low motion with 23 f/sec.
Even converting this to a 25 f/s divx5.02 didnīt help curing the problem
real strange -
ok. dumb question here but i still gotta ask.
why not leave the audio in ***.ac3 and multiplex into the video file with TMPGEnc tools?
i would imagine that you would get DD5.1 and not prologic.Death, is only the begining -- Imhotep -
No. This is impossible.
you can produce such stream but it never be played by any
DVD player.
the SVCD standard is precise:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd
audio can't be AC3 or DTS. only MPEG 1 layer II or MPEG 2 layer II (5.1 extension).
also, MPEG 1 layer II stereo track can be dolby stereo encoded. So
you can make SVCD dolby prologic II compliant. -
oops...that last question was a little dumb. I mean: What program do I need to make a Dolby Prologic ll compliant .mp2/SVCD?
-
there is a lot of tutorial around here. BeSweet can produce such audio stream.
note that:
there is one encoding scheme: dolby stereo
there is 3 decoding scheme:
dolby surround:3.0
dolby surround prologic I: 4.0
dolby surround prologic II:5.1
