  1. Hi there,
I have been trying to figure out how to do good cross dissolves for a long time. I just can't get it right. I have read the help menu and don't understand it. Nothing seems to work. Other things like whipes work no problem.
I was wondering if somebody could perhaps email me a small Premiere project file of 2 small clips cross-dissolved nicely together. Then, I will be able to see how the clips are cross dissolve are positioned on the timeline.
    I use a/b editing.
In addition is a cross-dissolve also what I would use to have two full clips overlapping simultaneously? So you can see both images.

    Thanks again

In Premiere, any video track (EXCEPT for track 1) can be cross faded. I get the impression that you are using only track 1. Put one track in VIDEO 2 and create and place your second track in VIDEO 3 and use the opacity rubberbands to fade in/out/cross.

  4. Thanks a lot for the reply.
I was so flustered that I had to stop at the bookstore on my way home to see if any book would show how a cross-dissolve should look on the timeline.
I realized I was using Video 2 and video 1a to do cross dissolves.
I was supposed to use Video 1A and Video 1B.
I also learned like you said that using video 2 and the red lines I can overlap two images. Whew, now I can get back to work.
    Thanks again for your input.
