  1. hi all,
ok i have been successfully using DVD2SVCD for a while now, but i have just recently started doing dvds like Ali G and stuff that have short segments. with movies, i didnt care about the split point, cos u just chuck the next disc in and continue watchin the movie. with short episodes though, i want to split the discs so that it ends on the end of a particular episode...

ok i know how to go about it, you just 'activate dvd ripping' and 'use internal routines'. then, click the drop-down box that shows the length and select which chapters to rip.

now for my question: can i select the first few chapters, 'rip only', select the next few chapters, 'rip only' again, and then do the conversion? cos...my mate is only lending the dvd to me for a short while and i wanna try this out.

is it possible to get 2 sets of vobs ripped, and then convert each set as 1 disc? am i being anally retentive? has anyone else used this method successfully?

    cheers

  2. Hi.
I think you should rip all VOBs, and in DVD2SVCD select only the first few chapters for encoding which will fit to one CD. After the 1st CD is done, burn it, then select the next few chapters for the next CD encode it burn it, and so on...

    hints:
You can see how many minutes will fit to one CD in the Bitrate tab.
To select chapters individually, select Converion tab of DVD2SVCD and pull down the scrollbox where you can see the movie length. Start ticking the chapters until you reach the total length which can fit to a single CD.

    cheers

  3. cheers smed,

i already knew how to select which chapters to rip/burn, i was just wondering if anyone had done it b4 i attempt it tonite...

i wanted to 'rip only' the 2 sets of vobs because my 'mate' was only lending the dvd to me for a short while, i had to return it. so now i have ripped 2 sets of vobs to my hard drive, ill encode tonite when i go to sleep.

hopefully, in the morning i will have disc 1 of king of the cage: knockout nightmare! ultimate fighting kicks ass!

i will tell u how it goes....

  4. hi all,

it seems that i could only rip n convert 1 half at a time, which is a shame. the other idea i had, was to rip and convert each half, but do them separately as planned, then stop DVD2SVCD, and then it would be able to recover later. this way, the dvd could be returned in the time it takes to rip to the hard drive.

another thought is a batch file that does all that, but has anyone done this already?
