  1. I don't know why I can't play .mpg file at WMP. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WMP 7.1, DirectX 8.1. I can play .wmv, .avi, .dat, etc. fine. But when I open a .mpg file (I have several .mpg files which all work since I test them in my laptop), it gave me this sign:
    ------
The DLL "cpuinf32.dll can not be loaded. OS reports: One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.
    ----------

I've tried to play the .mpg in DVDx, but the file doesn't play at all.

Please help or advice what I need to do to fix this problem. Thanks for much.

  2. Sounds like a directx problem.. although you say you have reloaded
direct x. Directx is needed to link mpg codec's for direct show.

A quick way to refresh the directshow/mpg codec is to download
DVD player software (depending on your OS).

for win98/98se and ME choose power DVD (v.3 works / v.4 have not tested)

for win2k/winXP choose winDVD (any version)

    hope this helps.

Try for awhile then uninstall (do not remove shared files)
