Did anything come bundled with your vid card, or was it a white box card?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Nope, nothing, it was just a plain card with the drivers.

  4. Virtualdub has worked best for me. No cheap trials, limited time, etc.

  5. A PIII-800 is a little skimpy for recording straight to SVCD. VCD maybe, if you keep it clean. I've got a PIII-850 that handled VCD ok under WinDVR2. Didn't actually try SVCD with it.

For recording to AVI I've used AVI_IO and had great luck with it. I've also used VirtualDub, but the official build lacks a timer.

Now I do my recordings with Showshifter, and it's been very reliable on that box. Excellent at recording on schedule, web based EPG support, flexible codec support, but no mpeg codecs so you'll have to record avi's and convert them. I made 8 hours of VCDs with it today.
