I have been using Virtualdub to create WAV files from AVIs for a few weeks now. Last week I tried to create a new WAV file and it gave me an error "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)". The AVI file uses DIVX codec and I am able to play it and also convert it using TEMPGenc but I cannot create an WAV file using Virtualdub. Any suggestions?

Follow the guide for extracting AC3 and see if that works. Basically this involves saving the "wav" using *direct stream copy* and then renaming it to .ac3. Using an AC3 to wav converter should then sort it out for you.
