  1. Okay, I have a Sony TRV900 3ccd camera. I have downloaded video edited and saved and burned as SVCD all in Pinnacle8. I have also downloaded with DVIO and then converted to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc, and burned as SVCD using Nero5.5.

Quality is the same on both of these, good... but not DVD quality. Lots of motion/compression artifacts.

Now I downloded the test image... http://www.vcdimager.org/pub/vcdimager/examples/test_svcd/test_svcd_ntsc.zip

And burned it onto a SVCD with Nero and it is amazing quality. Am I going something wrong? The image from my camera to my TV is excellent, even edited with Pinnacle and played back to tape.

Thanks for any help, I don't mind learning by trial and error... just want to know if it gets better or is this it?

Settings in TMPGEnc make all the difference in the world. "Rate control mode" "Bitrate" "Motion search precision". Keep everything(bitrate/quality) as high as your CDR/patience will allow. Better yet, learn to use CCE.
