  1. Hi,

I read all the guides relating to this but I'm confused.

I can't use Nero as my PC refuses to write. But VCDEasy and CDRWin work OK. So too does Ulead DVD Factory.

My problem is - what's the best way to split the MPG down so it'll fit onto an 80min CDR and what should the file format be?

Considering my options for burning - what's the best way (anything but NERO) for burning the image?

Thanks guys - sorry if this is trivial, but I wanna be as good as you guys!

  2. use tmpg to split the video then use vcdimager to create a cue and bin since nero doesnt work for u then burn with cdrwin or fireburner

  3. Thanks,

It's TMPG that I'm having trouble with. The guide shows a 'Cut' tab under tools. But my version 2.54a only has a Join/Split option.

I've tried upgrading to the latest version but I get an MPEG license error (out of 20days)

Can you ~~ simply ~~ explain how I go about cutting it (and working out the size) in TMPG

    Thanks
    Pete

    Best way to split:
    1) Demux w/ TMPEGenc (MPEG tools)
    2) Re-mux w/ bbMPEG- use "Start" and "Stop" (seconds) under 'GENERAL' tab, or use the "Max size" (MB) and set to 795 (for 80-min. CDR)

    Best option for burning:
    VCDEasy

    Just my opinion, of course.
    You can't fool me, I'm a moron!

  6. It doesn't matter how you cut, it's just the same, but i find TMPGEnc easier to use...

  7. The two methods described - TMPgenc and demux/BBmpeg split - ARE completely different and may very likely give opposite results. They may also both work on any given machine or file.

I use BBmpeg since I encode audio and video seperately anyway, as I am already remuxing with BBmpeg for compatibility AND it will split based on precise filesize, unlike TMPgenc which is based on play time and in which the CUT function locks up for me 80% of the time (multiple versions). YMMV

  8. OK - decided to go down the BBMpeg route (as TMPG has license expired for MPG encoding)

Have downloaded the latest from bbmpeg (following the site links on VCDhelp) and have got the latest beta version (1.24) with XP patch.

But I can't see any 'general' tab.

Have I got the right program? The .exe says AVI2MPG2 and there is the bbmpeg .DLL

What launches the .DLL (I don't have Premiere)

  9. Yo, hi dvdpete,

click on "Start Ecnoding" and a new dialog appears. Then click on "Settings". There you will find the "General Settings" tab in which you can specify your split parameters.
