  1. Hallo everybody...
I wouldn't call me newbie but I'm very new in 5.1 Surround Sound with SVCDs. I've created a 5.1 SVCD to test this but my PowerDVD Player doesn't play nice Surround Sound. Went something wrong by creating the SVCD or is PowerDVD simply not able to play 5.1 MPEG Files???

  2. Unfortunately I don't know much about PowerDVD because I JUST started sing it. But I have been using WinDVD for a while and I know that there are some versions of it that do not support Dolby 5.1. When you choose dolby 5.1 sound when playing a DVD through PowerDVD does it work properly? If so then I would suspect that the problem lies in the way in which you created the SVCD because there is no reason it would play a 5.1 channel for a DVD and not an SVCD since they are both MPEG2 format. How did you extract the AC3 audio stream? Did you compress it? if not I can't see how you could fit a movie on an acceptable number of CDs or seperate files.

    Hope this helps

  3. My PowerDVD has no Problem with 5.1 DVDs. All works fine.

Here the way I did it:
    - I extracted the AC3 file from the VOB. (DVD2AVI)
    - I extracted the 6 channels from this AC3 (I don't know the name, 'cause right now, I'm not at home)
    - with raw2audio (from philipps audiotools) I created a 5.1 .aiff file and...
    - ...encoded it with MPEG 5.1 Encoder (from philipps audiotools) to a 5.1 MPEG file.
    - Last I mixed it with TMPEG to a .mpg file and tested it.

  4. To solve this: I just was too stupid. I shuffled the channels without recognizing it and so I thought there was no 5.1 surround but now, I did it again and it WORKS!!!!
    Thanx for help.
