I like to capture from VCR with a resolution of 352x288. Yesterday I flashed the bios of my motherboard and now I'm having strange problems. When capturing, I get lost frames, about 30% of frames are lost. I tried to change resolution, even 768x568 worked well, no dropped frames. It only occurs with my favourite capturing resolution! What could possibly be wrong?! I have Hauppauge WinTV PCI.

352x288 IS VCD compliant framesize (PAL).
Most of the world uses PAL. The only places that use NTSC is North America and Japan.

If you're having problems with 352x288 and not with 768x568. You should definitely capture @ 768x568 and downsize it back to 352x288 when encoding with TMPGEnc or whatever encoder. The result will have better quality to as if you captured @ 352x288. =)

I have the same problem as visavo, though I am using Pinnacle StudioVCD. Currently, I have been capturing at 768x568 without much drop frames (~0.0001%), but with lots of drop frames at 352x288 (~30%). I agreed that the result will have better quality if captured @ 768x568, but due to hard disk space constrain, sometimes it may be useful to capture at 352x288. Any comments to the problem?
