  1. I have a file here that is a .mpg file in SVCD format. I am wondering if there is a way I can convert it to either an avi in vcd and then back into an .mgp to burn, or to actually convert the file straight to VCD, to be able to play on my VCD player. Thank you,

  5. i feel for ya .. most of these people cant tell the difference betweena vcd or svcd .. anyhow heres how to REALLY do it ..
    1. tpmg (or whatwever its called)
    load the svcd template
    load file mpeg
under settings select 3:2 pulldown (it is better so all those who say no .. just try it before you squawk!)
hit start and find something to do for a few hours
split the final mpeg and you ahve a vcd

Actually, murf would need the VCD template, not the SVCD template. The post indicates the need to convert to VCD...

Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...

What nonsense. What is the point of 3:2 pulldown with, for example, a PAL source? Or an NTSC source?

  8. my bad your right use the vcd template

as for the 3:2 pulldown it is the ONLY way to increase to 29.x framrate and personally it looks better .. who wants a slow refreshing PAL anyhow???

Why do you want to increase to 29.97 if it is already 29.97? If it's PAL, then it is going to look crap encoding to 29.97, with or without pulldown. I have yet to come across a 23.976 SVCD, although they may exist. If you really wanted to do this because you thought PAL was someway inferior to NTSC, or more reasonably because you could not play PAL, then the way to go would be to convert properly to NTSC(film) and then use 3:2 pulldown.

What you suggested so far is rubbish.
